Primary Purpose: To assist in receiving, storing, issuing and delivering of equipment, tools and supplies, maintaining inventory controls, and doing the required recordkeeping.
Qualifications:
Education / Certificate
- High School diploma or GED.
- Be at least 18 years old.
- CDL drivers license, preferred.
- Valid Texas driver’s license with a good driving record.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of basic warehouse operations.
- Skill in operating warehouse equipment specially a forklift and truck and adhering to traffic and driving rules.
- Skill in basic mathematics and clerical ability to load delivery trucks according to delivery specifications and orders by following a pick list matching stock numbers with proper units of issue and item specifications, and compare items that have been pulled to ensure accuracy.
- Skill in communicating in English effectively and clearly, both verbally and written, utilizing tact and diplomacy.
- Ability to follow established policies and procedures and keep accurate records.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to manage multiple complex tasks simultaneously and exercise good judgment.
- Ability to pack, organize and label orders, preparing items for shipment, and complete daily deliveries.

Experience:
- Prior experience working in a warehouse environment preferred.
- Experience with deliveries and inventory control procedures helpful.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Receiving/Inventory/Distribution:
- Verify accuracy of shipments by counting, weighing, or measuring items and comparing size, weight, description, and code numbers with information on invoice or packing slip and purchase orders; record any discrepancies or damage.
- Open crates and other containers using hand tools to unpack items received. Inspect shipments for damage and defects.
- Move inventory to various locations manually and by operating mechanical equipment, including fork lift, pallet jack, dolly, and hand cart.
- Sort and store items according to established procedures.
- Maintain computerized inventory records, take physical count periodically, and check against inventory controls totals using computer.
- Maintain a clean environment of inventory and equipment storage.
- Read and fill requisitions for stock items. Verify accuracy of orders pulled.
- Drive truck to various locations to deliver materials. Obtain authorized signature for supplies requested.
- Load and unload delivery truck by hand, dolly, pallet jack, and etc.
Safety:
- Operate tools, equipment, and machinery according to prescribed safety procedures.
- Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting, carrying etc.
- Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.
- Follow campus safety procedures and measures at all times
- Must wear safety shoes with impact resistant toes during the entire work shift.
- Must wear District issued uniform and ID while at work and return all uniforms prior to last day of employment with Humble ISD.

- Detect needed repairs on vehicles and equipment by following established inspection procedures.
- Keep warehouse and vehicles clean.
- Self-motivated and directed, people oriented and a team player.

Equipment Used:
Personal computer, hand tools, forklift, ladder, dolly, scaffolding, pallet jack, handcart, and delivery vehicles.
Working Conditions:
Continual walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching. Heavy lifting, and carrying. Work outside and inside, around machinery with moving parts, around moving objects and vehicles, and on ladders. Exposure to dampness, humidity, heat, cold, and slippery or uneven walking surfaces. Will be required to have drug testing, background checks, and finger printing.

- Maintain emotional control under stress.
- Workload is deadline driven.
- Prolonged use of equipment and computers.
- Office atmosphere may be noisy and hectic. Offices are “open” with multiple employees working in large open rooms containing two or more desks and equipment.
- Frequent contact with other district/campus employees.
- Noisy environment Possible exposure to chemicals.
- Lifting up to 50 lbs..
- Flexibility with work schedule required to include working possible weekends on occasion.
- Daily attendance and punctuality are essential functions of the job.
